A hundred year old mission repositioned for its centenary: research and workshops, a brand and voice the team can write from, a 100 Years in Mission symbol, and a fast new website that has become a steady source of giving.
SIM New Zealand sends New Zealanders into global mission and marks one hundred years this year. I built them a basic website years ago. When their director came back about three years later, the brief was much bigger: reposition the brand for the centenary.
The work began with research and workshops, then positioning, personas and a brand archetype. The tricky part was holding SIM's international story and New Zealand's own in the same brand. Out of that came a brand strategy, a tone of voice and key messages the whole team can write from, and a brand guide that lives online for staff and partners.
Then the applications: a mark that sits with the international identity, a symbol for 100 Years in Mission, print, banners and merchandise, an event booth that now travels the country, and a full redesign of Together magazine.
The website carries the most. Mission opportunities each generate their own map, and the team has the tools to build and share them. There is a regions explorer, a stories hub, Together online, and giving that takes one off and monthly support. It is fast, the team runs it themselves, and it has become a steady source of giving for SIM New Zealand.
